A group calling itself the Independent Civil Society Group has come out in defense of President Lazarus Chakwera’s decision to reinstate Prince Kapondam’gaga as state residence Chief of Staff.
The activists, Unandi Banda, Caesar Kondowe and Caleb Ng’ombo told journalists in Blantyre this morning that Kapondam’gaga was cleared by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and, therefore, there is nothing wrong in his reinstatement.
Chakwera suspended Kapondam’gaga for his alleged involvement in corrupt practices with businessman Zuneth Sattar.
Kapondam’gaga was suspended together with the then Inspector General of Police Dr. George Kainja.
The President also suspended delegation of duties to State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima over his involvement in the corruption scandal.
