Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President John Zenus Ungapake Tembo, is admitted at a private clinic in Lilongwe.

His son, John Tembo Jnr has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Tembo Jnr said his father was rushed to the hospital Monday evening last week and is still unwell.

He said his father has acute pneumonia dehydration and had surgery on one foot due to his diabetic condition.

Tembo resigned from frontline politics ahead of the 2014 Presidential polls which saw former President Peter Mutharika emerging victorious.

He left MCP leadership in the hands of the current President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
