Minister of Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has dismissed the public’s concerns about security lapse in the country. This follows recent incidences where three individuals were found murdered and dumped in their vehicles within a space of three days, in Area 47 and Area 25 in Lilongwe.
Zikhale said that “these are just few deaths against the population of 20 million people as such it doesn’t qualify for a threat to national security.”
He said: “Seriously, these are just three deaths against a population of 20 million people, you call that an issue of lack of public security in this country?”
He said this during a press conference where he was responding to public outcry about the lack of security in the country.
In the past three days, Lilongwe alone has registered three suspected murder cases namely; Agnes Katengeza whose body was found in the trunk of her vehicle dumped in Area 47, barely three days after the body of Allan Wittika was also found in his car in the same Area 47.
On the day that Katengeza’s body was found, a body of man was also found in Area 25 in the same city.
