The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has confiscated pampers worth K40 million from Santa Plaza for tampering with expiry date.
MBS Senior certification officer Raphael Mpingo has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Mpingo, the development follows regular inspection exercises which they were conducting in the shop, adding that some of the tampered products expired last year.
Mpingo said damaged diapers are toxic and hazardous to baby skins.
The offence attracts a penalty of K3 million or 6 years imprisonment in default.
