Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South has express shock over the death of former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President John Zenus Ungapake Tembo.
Tembo died on Wednesday morning at a private clinic in Lilongwe at the age of 91.
Writing on his official Facebook page Nankhumwa described Tembo as Stalwart of Malawians politics.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved of the late Honourable John Zenus Ungapake Tembo a stalwart of Malawian politics.
“His dedication and service to our nation will be remembered by generations to come. May his legacy continue to inspire us all in pursuit of a better Malawi,” said Nankhumwa in the statement.
Tembo was the first governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
Meanwhile, burial date is yet to be known.
