As one way of fighting gay marriages in Zambia, President Hakainde Hichilema through the Ministry of Health has banned the use of the term ‘S3xual and Reproductive Health Rights’.

In a MEMO seen by this publication dated September 21, 2023 addressed to all Provincial Health Directors seen by this publication, the ministry has said the term promotes LGTBQ rights.

“The 2nd joint Africa Europian Union Ministerial meeting that was held in Kigali Rwanda in October 2021 rejected the use of the term “S3xual and Reproductive Health Rights”. This is because the inclusion of the words “S3xual” and rights in the same phrase is inclusion of Lesbians, Gay, Transgender,Bis3xual and Qveer rights. Zambia was party to the decision by the African Union and does not support LGTBQ rights,” reads part of the MEMO.
