Former deputy chief executive officer for National Oil Company of Malawi (Nocma) Hellen Buluma has told the court that she was not aware of any call for application or advertisement for her position at Nocma but went through interviews before getting the job.

This was in response to questions from defence lawyer Mchuka Mwale who is currently cross-examining her.

Buluma has also confirmed that prior to her appointment, she was a member of the Democratic Progressive Party but resigned after taking the job at Nocma.

Mwale has just shown Buluma documentary evidence showing that she never attended interviews:

Mwale: Do you see that what you have just read does not show you attended interviews?

Buluma: It does not, but can I explain?

Mwale: No.

Buluma is being cross examined in case where former minister of energy Newton Kambala, former presidential advisor Chris Chaima Banda and Aford president Enoch Chihana are being accused of attempting to influence fuel procurement deals.
