Silver Strikers’ head coach, Pieter De Jongh, arrived from Kenya today through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA).
Upon his return, the Malawi Department of Immigration has provisionally halted De Jongh from discharging his coaching duties until a temporary work permit is issued.
In a communication from the department, the club and the Dutch coach have been given three working days to complete all necessary documents.
De Jongh’s work permit had expired last month, and this situation needs to be addressed promptly.
It has been reported that De Jongh rejected the Silver Strikers’ board’s proposal to bring back assistant coach Etson Kadenge Mwafulirwa into the fold, expressing his contentment with the current backroom staff.
Despite his physical absence, De Jongh has maintained constant communication with the players and the rest of the technical panel regarding team matters since his departure on September 22, 2023.
