Jenda Police in Mzimba District have launched a search for an unidentified criminal who robbed a 34year old Moses Ndhlozi, a bicycle taxi operator after giving him a beverage suspected to be poisoned.
According to MacFarlane Mseteka spokesperson for Jenda police station, Ndhlozi was hired by unknown person to transport him to Lundazi in Zambia through the Mqocha border.
Mseteka said during their journey , they made two stops where the customer purchased two beverages and two biscuits and offered one packet and beverage to Ndhlozi.
After consuming the items, Moses began experiencing dizziness, stomachache and diarrhoea, quickly losing his strength and falling from the bicycle, an opportunity that was seized by the customer to rob Ndhlozi of his phone and bicycle before disappearing.
Moses Ndhlozi a resident of Msakasilo village Traditional Authority Mnyanje, Kasungu District was rushed to Mqocha police unit by well wishers from where he was referred to Kalikumbi health center for treatment.
Police have since cautioned all bicycle and motorcycle operators to remain vigilant especially when serving clients with suspicious destinations in the Kapopo area.
