Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that representatives of Truck Drivers who were on sit-in have an emergency meeting today with government officials and other stakeholders.
Chairman for Professional Drivers Union of Malawi, Major Mkandawire has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Mkandawire, today they are going to finalise the meeting that started yesterday in order to get feedback on their request for salary increments and downward adjustment of passport renewal fees.
“Yesterday we had a meeting to come up with an agreement following our strike and today we are going to have another meeting to get feedback from the government.
“It’s either the government will accept our proposal or not,” said Mkandawire.
The strike by Truck drivers saw the resurfacing of fuel scarcity in the country with Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) claiming that fuel tankers are being denied entry into Malawi by the striking drivers.
