Malawi Women’s National Football Team captain, Tabitha Chawinga, produced an outstanding performance for her side, PSG Feminines to help the team qualify for the UEFA Champions’ League group stages after knocking out Manchester United Women 4-2 on aggregate on Wednesday.
In the first half of the match Tabitha made a brilliant solo run from the midfield but the goalkeeper denied her with a save and Martens guided the ball into the net on the rebound to make it 1-0.
Manchester united levelled on 47th minute through Naalson but the goal short-lived as Chawinga set up Martens to restore parity and later on Bartimore added another goal to make it 3-1.
The win means that PSG have qualified for UEFA Champions’ League group stages for 2023/24 season.
The Malawian international will become the first Malawian female footballer to play in the group stages of the tournament, She has two goals and one assist in her first four games with the Parisians.
Last season Chawinga was Serie A’s top goalscorer after netting 23 goals while on loan at Inter Milan from Chinese side Wuhan Jianghan.
