The living legend, Billy Kaunda said; Sadly, coming from burying another popular musician a week ago, today I join the music fraternity and the entire nation of Malawi in mourning the untimely death of Thomas Chibade. As we all know, Thomas Chibade was an exceptional talent that we have cherished since his debut album, ‘Zatukusila’, in 2005. He was young and still exhibited a lot of potential to keep giving us good music in the next coming years. But death had other plans. My heartfelt condolences to family, friends, and the nation. ‘Ukatha moyowu ndidzatseka maso, kuyamba ulendo wa kulichete. Ndine wa mantha, mundiperekeze. Poti ndalema mundinyamule. Muziyimba nyimbo, ena azilira.’
Chibade will be laid to rest on Saturday at his home village, Likaluma, in the Area of Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba.
His death comes barely a week after the loss of another talented artist Atoht Manje, who was laid to rest at his home in Mangochi District.
