A 30 year old woman is in police custody for allegedly stealing a 5 months old baby at Zomba Central Hospital.
Police in Zomba have confirmed of the development with the press and identified the suspect as Juliet Makauli from Deleza Village, Traditional Authority Mlumbe in the district.
The woman is said to have stolen the baby from Amina Ligomeka after posing as a Good Samaritan who offered to take care of the child at the hospital few days ago.
The suspect was arrested after intensive investigations by Zomba detectives and the baby has been recovered at Machinjiri in Blantyre City.
Makauli will appear before court soon.
