Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is on November 12, 2023 scheduled to hold a political rally at Masintha Ground in the capital Lilongwe.

Mutharika’s rally will come barely a month after announcing that he will contest again as President in the forthcoming 2025 polls.

During the rally, Mutharika is scheduled to address some leadership wrangles in the party where some top officials are against his candidature.

This will be the first public rally for him in Lilongwe since he lost the fresh 2020 Presidential polls to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

Recently, the court ordered the party to hold convention before December this year.

At the convention, Mutharika is scheduled to face leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa.

Meanwhile, it is not yet known if the party will follow the court ruling on the convention.
