A 17 years old girl has committed suicide by tying herself with a mosquito net in her boyfriend house as she was coming from school at Mphande secondary school in Mwanza district.
Mwanza Police Station, Sergeant Hope Kasakula, has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Kithuwe Mtunduwatha.
Kasakula said the deceased commited the act last week on October 25, 2023 in the village of Mchotseni, senior chief Kanduku Maseko in the district.
The police said that the late Mutunduwatha stopped by his boyfriend’s house on that day when she was going to school, so that she should cook food for the boyfriend, but the man was surprised that the girl looked unhappy.
Kasakula went on to explain that after Matunduwatha left school, she stopped at her boyfriend’s house but this time the man had gone to hunt food for dinner.
Police spokesperson said that evening when the man returned from work, he found the door of his house closed and when he opened it with force he saw the body of his girlfriend hanging from the ceiling of the house.
After the matter was left at Mwanza Police station, other officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) rushed to the place and took the body of Mutunduwatha to Mwanza district hospital for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, the results from the hospital shows that the girl died of suffocation after her neck was twisted.
