Two people have died in Mulanje district after being struck by lightning following a heavy down pour in the district yesterday.
The two have been identified as 22 year old Grace Matabwa and 20 year old Anderson Matabwa both from the same family.
Mulanje Police spokesperson, Innocent Moses explains that the two were at their parents’ house at the time of the incident.
Moses explains that they were rushed to Mulanje District Hospital where they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
A medical report from Mulanje District Hospital established that the deaths were as a result of electrocution secondary to lightning.
Meanwhile, Police in Mulanje are advising the general public to follow all preventive measures during this rainy season to avoid accidents which occur as a result of rainfall.
