Mthunzi Funeral Services, one of the subsidiaries of Old Mutual Malawi Limited has donated Mk1 million to the Malawi Orthopedic Association which in partnership with the Ministry of Health are hosting the National Trauma Consultative Forum in the capital Lilongwe.
The two days forum which is slated for Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) from November 15 to 16 will be held under the theme: “Rethinking and Creating a Dynamic Trauma and Orthopedic System: A Move Towards a Priority in Public Health and Socio-Economic Agenda.”
Speaking after the handover ceremony of the cheque Mthunzi Funeral Services General Manager Onismas Karakadzai hailed the Ministry of Health for coming up with such a forum.
“The conference which is coming through between the Orthopedic Association of Malawi and Ministry of Health is to gather stakeholders with the view to come with solutions to deal with Trauma within the country. As you are aware a lot accidents are happening in Malawi, a lot of people are losing their lives so this forum is to try to come up with those solutions that will preserve lives.
“We are an organization of the people for the people so whenever there is worthy cause such as this we find it suitable to be part of it,” said Karakadzai.
On her part Malawi Orthopedic Association of Malawi President Maureen Sabawo hailed Old Mutual through Mthunzi Funeral Services for the support.
Sabawo said the forum has been organized with an aim of find solutions to high number of road accidents especially Kabaza operators.
