The University of South Africa has denied offering doctorate degree to social media influncer cum-activist Pemphero Mphande and well-known talented musician Patience Namadingo.

The past weekend Mphande posted on his official facebook page that he has been awarded a doctorate degree by UNISA over his charity work which has seen a number of people with various medical conditions being assisted to access medical treatment abroad.

Mphande attributed the award to fans and followers on social media.

But UNISA’s Acting Registrar Professor Moloko Sepota has denied awarding Mphande with a doctorate degree.

“UNISA wishes to state categorically that it has not conferred any such degrees on the trio and that any assertion to this effect is simply not true.

“As a university, we distance ourselves from these false claims and also condemn in the strongest terms the misuse of UNISA name for fraudulent conduct,” reads part of the statement.
