A Malawian teacher identified as Zebron Mwale has died at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Tanzania while awaiting to undergo an open heart surgery.
Social media influencer Pemphero Mphande has confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.
Mphande recently conducted a fundraising where he raised MK14.8 million for Mwale to travel to Tanzania to access the medical services.
“It is with deep regret and sadness that I must inform you of the passing on of Mr Zebron Mwale today in Tanzania at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute. We fundraised 14.8 million Kwacha for him to access an open heart surgery at the Institute where he arrived a few days ago.
“With his condition he wouldn’t be operated on right away, the hospital has been managing his condition by treating sepsis, kidney failure and and lung congestion. He has been on dialysis. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the surgery,” wrote Mphande.
Meanwhile, arrangements are underway to repatriate Mwale’s body back to Malawi.
