Three people are feared dead after a fuel tanker they were traveling in overturned in Chiweta Hills in Rumphi last night.
Confirming the incident today, Rumphi Police public relations officer Sub Inspector Noel Kamchenga has stated that the vehicle was traveling from Mzuzu direction to Karonga direction with three people on board.
Sub Inspector Kamchenga has mentioned that police suspect that as the vehicle was traveling in Chiweta Hills, the driver lost control, and the vehicle went off the road and overturned several times.
He has added that currently, the bodies of the three are still trapped, and efforts to remove them are still underway.
Police have identified the driver of the vehicle as Khumbo Kachingwe of Muwa village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in the district, and the other two are yet to be identified.
