The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Sidik Mia, has asked partners to invest more resources in water development, saying gaps are too huge for the government alone to fill.
She made the call at Chilipa in Mangochi on Thursday, where USAID-funded project Titukulane officially handed over 30 newly constructed and 150 rehabilitated boreholes in Mangochi and Zomba districts.
“The government is doing a lot, but there is still more to be done for people to access safe and portable water as Cyclone Freddy also caused a huge deficit to the water system,” said Mia.
Titukulane Chief of Party, Daniel Abbott, said he is happy they have managed to provide safe and clean water to 51 thousand people in the two districts.
