The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has said that the ballot papers for the by-election in the central region of Dedza District will arrive in the country on Friday this week.

MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulila said that the papers will arrive through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe city at 11:50 in the morning.

“We are asking the leaders of the political parties to send their representatives to the ceremony of receiving these papers,” said Mwafulirwa.

The electoral body is expected to hold the election on 16 November this year in the area, following the death of the local MP Daniel Chiwere.

Three people are contesting in this election in the region and these people are Andrew Ndekha Mtunga Kowedza of the Democratic Progressive Party DPP, Willard Alfred Gwengwe of Malawi Congress Party MCP and Jacob Joseph Kaumphawi who is independent.
