Vice president of Malawi, Saulos Klaus Chilima, has asked Malawians to stop intimidating politicians with their votes, while the government wants to improve things in the country.

Chilima said this while speaking as an ordinary person at a meeting of the Economists Association of Malawi (ECAMA) in Mangochi.

According to Chilima, the government sometimes fails to do things that are beneficial to the country because Malawians themselves threaten the government that if you do that, we will not vote for you again.

Chilima said the time has come for Malawians not to threaten the government when it is doing good things to save their lives.

The conference is taking place at a time the Reserve Bank of Malawi has just devalued the kwacha by 44 percent effective on Thursday.
