State Vice President Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima has said Armistice Day or Remembrance Day is a day of peace making worldwide.
Chilima said this on Sunday 12 November, 2023, during the commemoration of Soldiers who fought in the two major wars across the World which was held in Zomba.
“Armistice or Remembrance Day is the day that will forever remain an important day world wide. It is a day of peace making.
“We will always remember those who volunteered, sacrificed, served, fought, and paid the ultimate price of blood for our freedom,” said Chilima.
Chilima was the first to lay wreath at the monument to commemorate the soldiers who died in two wars.
The leader of opposition party, Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa, the army General Commander, Paul Valentino Phiri, the Inspector General of police Meriyn Yolamu, the speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara and the head of courts Rezine Mzikamanda are some of the people who also laid wreaths.
The wreath-laying ceremony is one of the important ceremonies that took place during the event.
Chilima represented Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera at the memorial service at Zomba War Memorial.
