Police at Jenda have launched a man hunt for unknown individuals who murdered a seven-year-old girl, Suzen Mwale, chopped off her private parts and burnt the dead body between 14 to 17 November 2023 at Mafundeya in the district.
It has been established that Suzen Mwale (now deceased) daughter to Philip Mwale, went missing on November 14, 2023 while going to the garden with her sister. Around 14:00 on that day the two girls were sent to water vegetables at the garden, and on their way they realised they had forgotten a pail at home, prompting the elder sister to go back to get the said pail while Susan waited along the road. However upon where Susan was left, she discovered that her sister was missing and she went back home to inform her parents.
Community members together with the parents instituted a search for the girl but she couldn’t be found anywhere. The matter was reported at Emfeni police who also joined the search but to no avail. Sadly, on November 18, 2023 around 06:00 in the morning a dog brought a human leg in the village prompting villagers to start a new search and a dead body was discovered 500 metres away from the village.
The matter was reported at Jenda police station, who together with medical personnel visited the crime scene. At the scene it was discovered that the dead body was missing private parts(vagina) and her both legs were chopped off from knees. The body was also burnt by these unknown criminals.
Police have since launched a man hunt to trace these unknown criminals. On the same note police are asking those who can have any information that would lead to the apprehension of these unknown criminals to come forward and tip the police.
Jenda police is asking for patience from members of the community as it is conducting its investigations diligently, to avoid unfounded accusation which would lead to commission of further crimes.
