The Industrial Relations Court in Blantyre has stayed hearing a matter involving the suspended Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) Chief Executive Officer, William Liabunya, and Director of Corporate Affairs, Videlia Mluwira, who were sent on forced leave.
In his ruling, IRC Chairperson Austin Msowoya, which was read by his vice, Tamanda Nyimba, told the court that it was surprising that the claimants’ lawyers decided not to serve them with relevant documents after making a judicial review application.
This is a case where Liabunya obtained an injunction protesting the decision to send him on forced leave pending a forensic audit at EGENCO.
The injunction was later vacated.
