A 28-year-old man has died in Ntcheu after being struck by lightning.
Ntcheu Police Station Spokesperson Jacob Khembo said the deceased, identified as Laston Litchapa, met his fate on Tuesday afternoon at Davita village Traditional Authority Njolomole in the district.
“It is reported that on that day it was raining heavily with thunderstorms and Litchapa did not wait for the rains to stop as he was on his way home from where he got married,” Khembo said.
He added that Litchapa was later struck by lightning and was found unconscious by some people who were passing by after the rains.
Khembi says a medical examination revealed that death was due to hypoxia secondary to electrocution.
