The Principal Resident Magistrate Roderick Michongwe has adjourned the case involving Norman Chisale, former president Peter Mutharika’s aide, to December 6, 2023.

This is the day a presiding magistrate will give his ruling on objections from the defence regarding the constitutionality of the six counts the state has levelled against him.

The charges border on intimidation, use of insulting language, and obstructing justice, reported following the airing of an exclusive interview he granted to Zodiak Television.

Today the state was supposed to start parading witnesses in the case, but the defence, through lead counsel Gilbert Khonyongwa, made seven preliminary objections to almost all the charges, requesting the court scrap them off the charge sheet, saying they lack particularities and are not constitutional.

One of the state prosecutors, Ken Mhango, accused the defence of employing delaying tactics, asking the court to disregard submissions by the defence.
