A 34-year-old businessman, Benjamin Chirwa, based at Jenda trading center in Mzimba, has been arrested for possessing 24 bags of NPK fertilizer designated for the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP).
Jenda police spokesperson Macfalen Mseteka stated that Chirwa’s arrest occurred due to his failure to provide documentation permitting him to store the bags at his shop.
Chirwa is now facing charges related to the possession of property suspected to be stolen or unlawfully acquired under section 329 of the penal code, along with other offenses linked to the AIP program.
The seized 24 bags of NPK fertilizer will be used as evidence in Chirwa’s upcoming court appearance.
