Farmers who sell milk to Lilongwe Dairy (2001) LTD can now smile following the company’s decision to hike the purchasing price of milk from farmers from K350 to K365 per litre.
According to a statement signed by the company managing director, Asif Karim, they believe that the new price will help dairy farmers in this country to produce more milk.
“In light of the recent devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha and in recognition of the hand work put by the Dairy Farmers, Lilongwe Dairy is pleased to announce that the basic price of milk will be increased to MK350.00 per litre from the current basic price of MK325 00,”
“This will help farmers to increase viability and production of more milk required by Lilongwe Dairy,” reads part of the statement
The new price will come into effect on 1 December
