Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda is advising newly-elected Dedza Central MP Willard Gwengwe to exercise impartial judgement on critical issues affecting the citizenry.

Mzikamanda made the call in Parliament this afternoon when he swore-in the legislator who emerged winner in a by-election held on 16 November.

The Chief Justice stirred Gwengwe to advocate for his constituents’ interests by voicing their concerns and contributing to laws that would benefit their lives since it is their vote that has brought him to Parliament.

He further advised the MP to take his oaths of allegiance and office seriously as they signify the mutual trust that the Malawian citizens place in public offices and institutions.

He said these covenants must extend beyond mere symbolism to a moral commitment linking the MP’s inner values with the values and duties he undertakes as a public servant.
