Police in Chikwawa have launched a man hunt to arrest an assailant husband who brutally assaulted his pregnant wife.
Spokesperson for Chikwawa Police Station, Dickson Matemba, has confirmed the development and identified the assaulter as Thomas Pazombo.
Pazombo was filmed by Malawi Broadcasting Corporation-MBC Television whilst beating up his wife and the video is gone viral.

According to Matemba, when the suspect arrested, he will be surely  charged with acts intended to cause grievous harm and unlawful wounding.
“Police in the district are more committed to protecting rights of women and children from any kind of gender based violence-GBV.
“We further remind people to report any gender based violence to police so that action will be taken to deal with perpetrators,” he says.
Ironically, the assault comes within this year’s16 days of activism against GBV which runs from November to 10 December under the theme: “‘UNITED! Invest to prevent Gender Based Violence in Malawi.”
Malawi Human Rights Commission Chairperson Chikondi Chijozi says about one in three women in the country have been subjected to physical and sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence or both of them.
“About 78% of the cases received by the commission’s Gender and Women’s Rights Directorate are on GBV including sexual harassment”, reads the statement.
Meanwhile, Police in the District are more committed to protect rights of women and Children from any kind of gender based violence and police further remind people to report any Gender based violence to police so that action will be taken to deal with perpetrators.
Thomas Pazomba hails from Lameck village, Paramount chief Lundu in the district.
