The National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has disbursed the amount of  K17.8 million  to World Connect Malawi as one way of helping  social development works  in various communities across the country.
The development comes with the aim of  empowering and improving the livelihood of the girl child in the country.
World Connect will use the funds to empower girls to be more productive and responsible citizens towards their communities.
In her remarks, NBM’s treasury manager Grace Phiri  has said that the  bank decided to make the donation because it wants to use part of their profits to empower communities to develop themselves.
Meanwhile Board chairperson for World Connects  Tamala Chirwa has praised the banks’s donation for supporting the organisation’s philanthropy initiatives and expressed optimism that other institutions would emulate the gesture.
