A pharmacy attendant at Rumphi District Hospital is behind bars for allegedly being found in possession of drugs without a license.
Rumphi Police spokesperson Noel Kamchenga identifies the suspect as Robert Mwale, 29.
He says the arrest followed a complaint they received from a hospital official.
“Early this morning, we received a call which we later investigated and found the drugs within the hospital,” says Kamchenga.
Mwale, who hails from Kambali Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kabunduli in Nkhatabay district, will appear in court soon to answer charges of theft by servant.
Earlier this month, First Magistrate Court in the district convicted and sentenced 43 year old hospital attendant Nacy Mbale to 30 months for stealing medical drugs at the hospital.
