Forum for Democracy and Rights Defenders (FDRD) has objected to a proposal by the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) for the President to fire the Secretary to the President and Cabinet, SPC, Coleen Zamba.
Chairperson of FDRD, Sheikh Shaibu Ajassie, told journalists in Blantyre on Wednesdaythat there is a need to review laws that give more powers to SPC to be found in various boards of parastatals, unlike pushing for her dismissal.
The organization feels it is not fair for PAC to continue asking for dismissal of office bearers, like it did with the immediate past SPC, Zangazanga Chikhosi.
This comes after the PAC made some recommendations to President Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday aimed at improving the lives of Malawians, who are currently facing various social and economic challenges.
One of the proposals was for Chakwera to trim his Cabinet to 15 members and have Zamba fired.
