A group of people who worked in the government and retired from the job said they want the government to recalculate their expected retirement benefits, following the devaluation of kwacha currency.

Leader of the group, Snowden Mitochi said that this should be done considering that the country’s currency has been weakened several times, which has also affected the amount they are entitled to receive.

He also said that they are disappointed because of the government’s delay in giving them their retirement benefits, while some people have spent 3 years and some 2 years before receiving their benefits.

Mitochi said the delay has made their lives miserable as they are unable to access the things they need for their daily health.

Meanwhile, the group has submitted a letter of complaint to the parliament.

The councilor of Mulanje Bale Victor Musowa is the one who received this letter and he emphasized that he will ensure that he will properly support the group when he submits this letter to the appropriate officials.
