One person has died and others have injured in Makanjira Mangochhi district, after houses collapsed following the wind and heavy rain that fall yesterday in the district.
Reports indicate that several people have already been helped at Makanjira hospital, while others have been sent to Mangochi hospital to receive treatment there.
Most of them are from the villages of Malamia, Lukono, Mmadi, Mkopita, Kunulana and Makuta.
Senior chief Makanjira has said that he has received reports that one child has died, but he said that there are many affected villages and he is waiting to collect reports from all areas.
