Opposition Democratic Progressive Party Secretary General, Grezelder Jeffrey, has disclosed that the party’s National Governing Council (NGC) will meet on December 6, 2023 to discuss preparations for a convention.
Jeffrey told a media conference in Lilongwe today that the party wants to start preparations for the convention in compliance with a court order on September 29 for it to hold a convention within 90 days.
Jeffrey said the NGC meeting will, among other things, choose a committee that will run the convention.
She said she has been in touch with the party ‘s president Peter Mutharika about the move.
Court order the party to hold the convention this month following a lawsuit filed by the party’s Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa.
Despite the order, some top official seems to be reluctant in complying with the court order.
