Member of Parliament for Blantyre North Francis Phiso has described the Affordable Input Program (AIP) as a flop for failing to meet set guidelines to address hunger situation in the country.

Phiso who was contributing to the 2023-2024 mid-year budget review statement cited reduced number of beneficiaries as a major setback in the program urging the government to revisit the initiative.

The legislator has also told the house that people in his area are facing acute hunger due to shortage of food.

Meanwhile the minister of finance Simplex Chitchyola Banda is expected to ask the house to adopt the K4.3 trillion revised budget.
