Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has said that the party is not holding the National Governing Council (NGC) meeting on December 6, 2023 as announced by estranged Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey.
DPP Vice President for Eastern Region Bright Msaka who represented Mutharika announced this during a media briefing held in the capital Lilongwe.
Msaka said that the announcement made by the party’s Secretary General on convention was not sanctioned by the party President.
“I would like to notify our supporters and all Malawians that the party is not holding any NGC meeting this coming Wednesday as announced by the Secretary General of the party. The President will soon call for Central Executive Committee meeting where the committee will discuss issues regarding the impending convention as ordered by the court,” said Msaka.
He also hinted that the party will comply with the court order to hold the convention.
