Police in Lumbadzi have arrested a 47 year-old man identified as Jika Paul for the offence of theft of cattle.

It is reported that on the night of December 04, 2023 Jika went to the kraal of Chilungamo Gelesomo in Lumbadzi where he stole a herd of cattle, (about all valued at 2 million Kwacha.

It is further reported that when the owner discovered that his herd of cattle had been stolen, he followed the footprints which led him to the house where his cattle were unlawfully kept.

When matter was reported to Lumbadzi Police Station, officers invaded the suspect’s premises, where out of the eight stolen cattle four have been recovered so far.

Investigations are still underway to recover the remaining.

Meanwhile, Jika is in police custody and will appear before the court soon to answer the charge of theft of cattle which is contrary to Section 278 as read with Section 281 of the Penal Code.

Jika hails from Gemusi Village, Traditional Authority Samala in Balaka district.
