President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, has urged Malawians to repent of their sins and disconnect themselves from pride in order for God to answer their prayers.

Chakwera said this today during the National Day of Prayer ceremony which was held at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

According to Chakwera, its high time  that people should changed their ways, saying that pride and wickedness hinders them from receiving Gods blessings.

“Pride and wickedness hinder us from receiving Gods blessings, our primary posture in prayer must be to change our attitude by humbling ourselves and change our conduct by leaving our wicked ways.

“God says that if we want him to answer our prayers, we must humble ourselves and stop participating in wickedness, so if we want God to answer our prayers, we need to conduct ourselves with enough integrity to work for the common good not for our selfish-interests,” said Chakwera.

The Malawi leader was accompanied by Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, top government officials and members of different denominations.

This year’s prayers were being held under the theme “Malawi is a hopeful and resilient nation”
