Political activist Bon Kalindo has been sent back from the Principal Resident Magistrate’s court in Zomba, where his bail verdict was expected.

Today, Principal Resident Magistrate Martin Chipofya was set to deliver the bail ruling in two applications related to the ongoing case.

Kalindo, who remains in police custody, was initially scheduled to receive his bail verdict this morning but has been rescheduled for the afternoon.

Kalindo’s legal team, led by Timothy Chirwa, has applied for bail, while the state is requesting an additional five days to complete investigations.

Kalindo was arrested in connection to recent demonstrations in Zomba and Mangochi, where protesters clashed with law enforcement, resulting in damage to government vehicles.
