A 27-year-old man Identified as Chipiliro Kachepa of Kumbambe village, Traditional Authority Ganya in Ntcheu has been arrested by Police at Chilipa in Mangochi for being found with a pistol.
According to Mangochi Police Station Public Relations Officer Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi, the incident occurred on December 7, 2023 at Nkasowanjobvu village.
“It is reported that the suspect on December 6th,2023 visited his mother in-law at the specified village while carrying a small black plastic bag,” Daudi said.
She revealed that police were tipped by members of the community the following morning that the suspect is a criminal and was possessing a firearm without licence.
“Eventually, police rushed to the house and arrested the suspect after the pistol loaded with one bullet was found hidden in the black plastic bag,” Daudi indicated.
Meanwhile, The suspect who is wanted by Ntcheu Police for the offence of robbery he committed earlier this year, is being investigated as police suspect that he had missions to operate in the district.
