Former President Peter Mutharika has fired Secretary General of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Grezelder Jeffrey.
Jeffrey’s firing comes barely days after her camp held National Governing Council (NGC) meeting where delegates agreed to hold convention on December 15 in the capital Lilongwe.
In a statement signed by the party spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba seen by this publication Mutharika has replaced Jeffrey wa Jeffrey with Dr. Clement Mwale.
According to Namalomba, Jeffrey wa Jeffrey has been appointed to serve as Deputy Vice President for Central Region.
Mutharika argues that he has such powers as President in the DPP constitution to assign any NGC member to any position.
