The Kenyan bride-to-be, Nelly Chekoech who has been trending online for ”cancelling” her wedding a day before the event has now set the record straight

Initial reports from a screenshot from the wedding WhatsApp group alleged that the 23-year-old bride-to-be had called off the wedding hours before the D-day and demanded more time.

Precisely, the pastor, Clement Chalulot, who also acted as chairman of the wedding planning committee informed congregants that the wedding expected to happen at Kapsoyo AGC had been called off and that attempts to mediate and retain the wedding plans hit the wall.

“The communication from the presiding reverend that the bride had changed her mind halted everything and brought the entire plans to a halt,” he said.

He faulted the bride saying she had refused to send in her documents to process their marriage certificate.

“It became a toll order getting her documents and it later down to us that the bride had changed her mind,” he added.

This drew attention across different media platforms with a section of netizens claiming that she had run away. Quarters criticized her for dumping the groom when he had already paid the bride price.

But in a response shared via a video, Nelly strongly refuted the allegations and clarified that she was in fact at her home with her parents and had not run away as claimed by social media users.

She went on to clarify that the wedding was postponed and not cancelled. This, she says was contributed by the delay of some letters.

The young lady however expressed optimism that eventually their dream wedding will actualise after the issues have been sorted.

She further asked netizens to stop condemning her without getting the full story, she also asked them (netizens) to stop spreading rumours regarding the matter.
