The Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza has adjourned the hearing of the extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife to 4 pm after the state delayed to parade of a witness who allegedly had travel hiccups.

When the court reconvened on Monday morning after 60 days of recess, the state notified the presiding magistrate that the sole witness in the case had missed a flight in Kenya which she was supposed to connect from South Africa to Malawi.

The court heard that the witness will land at KIA at 2 pm which has compelled the Magistrate to reconvene hearing the case at 4 pm.

Speaking in an interview, Bushiri’s attorney, Wapona Kita, bemoaned the situation saying the state should have properly prepared for this court appearance after a long break.

“There were direct flights from South Africa to Malawi over the weekend why would someone with an important case like this one choose to connect flights on the day of assignment,” wondered Kita.
