Fired Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa has officially declared interest to contest as President in the forthcoming elective conference as ordered by the court recently.

Nankhumwa made the declaration during the media briefing currently underway at Golden Peacock Hotel in the commercial capital, Blantyre.

“After this convention, I will surely be the DPP candidate in the 2025 elections. My desire is to restore DPP’s lost glory,” he said.

Nankhumwa says his decision to contest at the DPP convention follows thorough consultations he has made with various stakeholders including his own family.

According to Nankhumwa, the party is currently going through leadership crisis hence he want to restore it.
