THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has seized a motor vehicle from Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo Maps.
This follows investigations conducted by the commission relating to the vehicle in question and is suspected to be a proceed of crime.
The commission has further clarified that Mr Mulenga is not subject of the investigation.
ACC Head Corporate Communications Timothy Moono said the suspects in question are believed to have acquired several properties, including the vehicle sold to Mr Mulenga.
“The Anti-Corruption Commission wishes to confirm that it has seized a motor vehicle Toyota Landcruiser VX, registration number BLC 2179 which was in the custody of a renowned Zambian musician Elton Mulenga aka Yo Maps.The seizure relates to investigations that the Commission is conducting relating to possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime,” he said.
Mr Moono said the suspects are alleged to have acquired several properties including the said motor vehicle which was in Yo Maps’s custody but registered in another person’s name.
He said the Commission has since seized the vehicle and restricted other properties as they are deemed to be proceeds of crime.
“The public is advised that Yo Maps is not a subject of these investigations. The Commission will ensure that it continues to carry out its mandate with objectivity, regardless of the social and political status or religious affiliation of individuals involved in investigations,” he said.
