National Theatre Association of Malawi (Ntam) Publicity Secretary, Fumbani Innot Phiri Junior has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Phiri has announced his resignation in a letter dated December 11, 2023, addressed to the Ntam Executive and the entire membership of the association.
In his resignation letter, Phiri Junior says a dormant Executive committee, failure to address members’ exploitation, personal interest versus the association’s interests and betrayal of fellow active members are some of the issues that have led to his resignation.
“As a leader I find it untenable to continue in a position where such actions persist,” said Fumbani.
In his response, NTAM Vice Publicity Secretary, Gibson Chisale confirmed Phiri’s resignation, saying the association has officially received his resignation letter and they are yet to meet and establish weather the issues raised by Fumbani are true all false.
“This is very disheartening for the association to loose people of his calibre,” said Chisale.
